Please consider becoming a
You can make a huge difference in supporting homeless animals by your membership. Feel the pleasure of knowing you have had a part in such an ipportant community service.

What is a “Friend of FCHS?"

A friend is a person who gives assistance --  a patron or supporter.  Thus, a "Friend of the Franklin County Humane Society" (FCHS) provides assistance for the shelter to continue their dedication to serving the homeless, abandoned and unwanted animals of Franklin County.  Friend of FCHS is an annual giving program.  Early in each calendar year, reminders will be sent to request your annual donation.   The consistency of annual donations gives the shelter a reasonable expectation of cash flow to cover shelter costs and maintain services for the animals, specifically early in the calendar year when adoptions tend to be slower thus less revenue.

"Friends of FCHS" is a newer program for the Franklin County Humane Society. It was initiated at the Diamond Anniversary Celebration in January 2004.  The annual Friend donation is:

                Student $15                                        Patron  $100-499

                Adult / Individual $35                         Guardian $500-999

                Family  $50                                         Benefactor $1000+

How are the "Friends of FCHS" donations used?

The donations collected are placed in the humane society’s general fund, which pays for overhead and the ongoing costs of caring for animals in the shelter.  Costs of events are primarily covered by donations from organizing volunteers and other entities that donate to the facility and / or prizes at an event.

What are the benefits of being a Friend?

First and foremost, is the knowledge you are assisting with consistent cash flow to maintain the shelter and taking care of housed animals.  Others are:
  • Special FCHS newsletter issues mailed directly to your home
  • A 5% discount on shelter gift shop purchases
  • Patron, Guardian and Benefactor levels assure preferential seating at sit-down events.
  • You are seen as a community minded individual among your acquaintances.

Is there a difference between your being a Friend versus a Member?

While a Friend is primarily a patron of the shelter, a Member desires to participate in the general direction setting of the organization by attending the annual membership meeting of FCHS, and such, membership allows the privilege of voting at the annual membership meeting, voting on the Board of Directors and voting on changes in the organization’s bylaws.  The privilege of the floor is extended to any voting Member at the annual membership meeting of FCHS.  If you desire to become a Member, contact  the shelter, 636-583-4300.

What is the Corporate Friends program?

It is similar to the individual / family program that you have just joined.  Businesses or organizations donate to become a Corporate Friend, which may also include financially sponsoring a fund raising event or capital need campaign.   FCHS suggests that Friends of FCHS direct their business needs to these Corporate Friends.  If your company wishes to become a Corporate Friend, call the shelter 636-583-4300.
