YOU, OUR VOLUNTEERS, MAKE THE WORLD GO 'ROUND HERE!
Is there a web designer who could give us some tips on the website or share some 'How To" information with the volunteer website manager?
"Daisy" Troop 803 really enjoyed their very first service project for FCHS. And it literally took under 10 minutes!! Talk about teamwork. We are both pleased and grateful to these great girls.

Volunteers are vital to helping homeless animals. (FCHS shelter volunteers must be at least 16 years old to volunteer on your own, and 12 years old to volunteer with a guardian, unless approved by the shelter manager. You MUST attend an orientation meeting prior to volunteering. For further information about volunteering, please contact the shelter between 11 am - 4pm at 636-583-4300.
If you can devote a Saturday or a Sunday, and go along with another dedicated person to help load dogs in the shelter van and transport them to a petsmart store, set up the crates and spend the day talking to dog friendly people and showing off our great dogs, Mary Lenau wants to hear from you! Contact Mary. This is the most rewarding experience volunteers can have -- seeing homeless animals go home with excited new families. FCHS will team you up with an experienced adoption specialist when you begin or you can call Mary on her cell phone at 636-584-3304 or email her at howdy@charter.net

Dog walkers exercise the dogs, keeping them more adoptable. We always need volunteers to play with and walk our puppies and adult dogs. We also need bathers and brushers! To help, please call 636-583-4300.
-
Socializers and Cuddlers play with, groom and cuddle the cats and the puppies, which socializes them! Your attention can make the difference between an animal being adopted or overlooked. Your help is needed. Please contact 636 583 4300 for orientation and training schedule. If you live near Sunset Hills PetsMart, can you come once a week or more to help with handling and cleaning up after the cats? We need your help!
-
Helping can be as easy as unfolding newspapers in the shelter or at home and laying them flat so that we have fresh newspapers that line the cages for the puppies. (Throughout the day papers are pulled in layers to keep the cages fresh and the animals clean, so this is one of the most valuable ways to help. If the staff has to stop and do unfold papers, it takes hours before they can even begin to clean cages.)
An important part of the mental and physical health care of the animals is grooming, walking, cuddling and playing with the animals. Their gratitude is always evident in the way they look at you. It's also fun! For more information on volunteering, please contact the shelter number (636) 583-4300 and plan to attend our next volunteer orientation.
