If You Want to Help Homeless Animals in Franklin County

Pick up a Schnucks eScrip card, register it to Franklin County Humane Society of Missouri, and shop Schnucks with it.

Become a “Friend of Franklin County Humane Society.”

Become a Community Pet Partner who sponsors a shelter improvement project, designates a company-wide work day or provides much-needed supplies on a regular basis.

Volunteer to care for animals at the shelter, or volunteer to help at a FUNdraiser.

Donate items for auction at our annual "Wine, Whiskers and Wags" winetasting.

Donate money through our secure donation link (left), or write a check and mail it to the shelter address at the bottom of this page.

Volunteer to be a “runner” to pick up litters just dropped off in front of stores (It happens, and the stores call us for help, more often than you know!), or to pick up items offered for auction at “Wine, Whiskers and Wags.” We also need a runner to pick up and take recyclables to the Union or Washington Recycling Center, where we have accounts. If you work at a larger business and would like us to pick up from your lunchroom, please call Sue at (636) 221-2063.

Donate a car you no longer needed. Please call 877-537-5277 and a professional CARS associate will help qualify the car and actually come pick it up. Be sure to specifiy Franklin County Humane Society in Union, MO as the beneficiary of your donation.

“Rehome” consumer products you may have opened, but you don’t want, such as products for cleaning, personal care, or even non-perishable foods.

Write or call the Franklin County Commissioners [400 E Locust St # 206, Union, MO 63084-1862] (636) 583-6358, and ask them to help fund the FCHS operation that serves the people and the animals in Franklin County so that our donors like you do not have to bear the full burden of caring for homeless animals in Franklin County.

Begin a “$1 More for the Animals” collection program at your retail cash register.

Donate to our Cinderella Fund to help care for animals requiring extraordinary medical care beyond that which we can routinely supply.

Pick up the cost of advertising one or more shelter animals in The Missourian. These are large photo layouts of an adoptable pet, and they run the last Wednesday of the month. They are nearly 100% effective in getting an animal a new home. The boxed ad can include your name, a business card and a memorial or sentiment of your choice. Ads cost one for $28 or $84 for three. Contact the shelter at (636) 583-4300 to arrange for an ad.

Bring us your recyclable newsapers (unfolded, please, and rolled) and your empty aluminum cans.

Drop off or mail gift cards, gift certificates, and even coupons for incentives for volunteers, staff who go the extra mile, or for persons who need help feeding their pets to keep them at home rather than turning them in at the shelter. We see many tearful owners in this situation, particularly now as people are losing their homes and their jobs.

Pick up a card, call the 1-800 number on the front of the card, and then tell them you want to have your card number connected the Franklin County Humane Society in Union, Missouri. If you need it, our group ID number is 500022033. Then remove the white sticker and present your card to the checker when he or she rings up your groceries.
